Carter Morse & Mathias today announced that it has been won the "Deal of the Year: Media and Entertainment" for its work advising Tantor Media on its sale to Recorded Books, a portfolio company of private equity firm Wasserstein & Co.   The awards was presented to CMM at the 5th Annual ACG New York Champion's Awards at the Metropolitan Club in New York.   The Champion's Awards is a collaboration between the ACG (The Association for Corporate Growth) New York Chapter and The M&A Advisor.   They are designed to acknowledge outstanding firms, transactions and dealmakers in the middle market mergers and acquisitions (M&A) industry. An independent panel of experts representing a cross-section of the middle market industry chose the winners from among the finalists.

This is the second consecutive year that CMM has received a Deal of the Year distinction.  At last year's ceremony, CMM was recognized for "LBO the Year" for its work with Blue Bell Mattress Company’s recapitalization with Longroad Asset Management.

"We are honored to be recognized for the second year in a row for our work with middle market companies in maximizing shareholder value, especially in light of this year's distinguished group of finalists" stated Michael Carter, Managing Director at CMM.  He continued "We would like to thank all of the members of the deal team, including: Robinson & Cole (sellers’ counsel), Cohn Reznick (sellers’ accountants), BNP Paribas (Buyers lender), Jones Day (buyer counsel), and McGladrey LLP (Due diligence).

"ACG congratulates the CMM team on this award in what was a very competitive category," commented Martin Okner, Chairman of ACG New York, adding that, "We are thrilled to spotlight the achievements of firms that promote a healthy and robust middle market deal environment.  The winners of the 5th Annual ACG New York Champion's Awards represent the pinnacle of M&A successes over the past year in the New York area."
