Daniel M. Schley

Mr. Schley is co-founder and managing partner of Dolphin Capital Group, LLC. Formed in 2004, Dolphin Capital is a growth equity fund focusing on early and mid-stage companies in the technology, financial services and consumer products sectors.

Over a 37 year career, Mr. Schley has served as chairman and CEO of numerous companies, both public and private, in the technology and financial services sector. Most recently, Mr. Schley served as chairman of Foundation Source, Inc., the nation’s leading provider of support services for private foundations (2003-2013) and as CEO from 2003-2009. During the concurrent period, Mr. Schley served as the lead director of Netspend, Inc., (NASDAQ: NTSP), a leading provider of prepaid debit cards to the “under-banked” until the company’s sale to Total Systems, Inc. (NYSE: TSS) in 2013. From 1995-2002, Mr. Schley served as chairman and CEO of Financial Fusion, Inc, an Internet financial services company, and Home Financial Network, Inc. a pioneer in online banking until its sale to Sybase, Inc. in 2002. From 1987-1994, Mr. Schley served as chairman and CEO of MECA Software, Inc., a leading publisher of personal finance, income tax and small business accounting software until its sale to H&R Block in 1994. Mr. Schley began his career as founder and CEO of Stanford Solar, Inc. a pioneer in the development of solar heating systems (1977-1979).

As a managing partner at Dolphin Capital, Mr. Schley remains actively engaged each of the firm’s seven portfolio companies. He presently serves on the boards of Dynamic Confections, Inc. a leading provider of branded and private label chocolates and Winder Farms, Inc., a “farmers market on wheels” serving 50,000 customers in the Mountain West.

Mr. Schley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics from Stanford University (1977) and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Harvard University (1981). Mr. Schley is a four-time national sailing champion, an avid (though aging) ice hockey player and a competitive oarsman. A native to New England, Mr. Schley was raised in Brookline, Massachusetts and now resides in Westport, Connecticut.
