Healthcare industry leaders join Carter Morse & Goodrich Advisory Board

SOUTHPORT, Connecticut - Carter Morse & Goodrich announced today the addition of Susan Davis and Stephen Bloch to its Advisory Board, which consists of prominent business professionals and thought leaders in a number of industries that are important to CMG's mission and clients.

Susan Davis is a nationally recognized healthcare executive and is currently serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Vincent's Health Services in Bridgeport, CT. St. Vincent's is a $450 million integrated health system that includes St. Vincent's Medical Center, St. Vincent's College, St. Vincent's Special Needs, Hall-Brooke Behavioral Health System, and St. Vincent's Foundation. In addition, she is the Ministry Market leader in New York and Connecticut for Ascension Health, based in St. Louis, MS. Ascension Health is the nation's largest Catholic and non-profit health system, operating a network of hospitals and related health facilities. Ms. Davis is a board member of the Connecticut Hospital Association and is currently Board Chair Elect. Additionally she is Chairperson of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council and in 2009 was named one of the State of Connecticut's Outstanding Women in Business. She has a master's degree in nursing administration and a doctorate in education from Columbia University as well as a bachelor's degree in nursing from Mount Saint Mary College and Columbia University.

Dr. Stephen Bloch is a General Partner of Canaan Partners, a premier global venture capital firm founded in 1987 with more than $3 billion under management. Dr. Bloch draws on his experience in medicine, government and business to invest in areas of healthcare that promise to change how medicine is practiced. Some of his investments include Advanced BioHealing, Amicus Therapeutics, Axial Exchange, Cylex, Dicom Grid, Liquidia Technologies, and Marinus Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining Canaan, he founded Radiology Management Sciences, a pioneer in managing radiology benefits for health plans. In addition, he helped start OmniSonics Medical Technologies, which engineered novel ultrasonic catheters for treating vascular occlusive disease and co-founded TeleRad, an early teleradiology services company. Dr. Bloch received his medical training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School (radiology) and Lenox Hill Hospital/Cornell Medical School (internal medicine). He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester, a master's degree in the history of science and public policy from Harvard University, and an A.B. degree from Dartmouth College.

  • Eugene M. Dunkin, Jr., currently President of Thompson Brands, is a highly respected consumer packaged goods executive and former President of Godiva North America.
  • Tony Friscia was a founder and CEO of Boston-based AMR Research, a company specializing in enterprise software, before its sale to Gartner, Inc. in 2009.
  • Lee Greenhouse is the founder and CEO of Greenhouse Associates, a Chicago-based strategic consulting firm serving clients in publishing, media and online information services.
  • Alan Mendelson is co-founder and Managing Director of Axiom Venture Partners, a venture capital firm focused on  the communications, software, internet infrastructure, biotechnology and information technology industries.
  • Jim Perakis was a founder and CEO of Hyperion Software Corporation before its sale to Oracle in 2008, and currently serves as board director, investor and advisor to several public and private software companies.
  • Robert J. Shapiro, Ph.D. is the co-founder and Chairman of Sonecon, LLC., a Washington-based economic advisory firm that provides in-depth analyses of economic conditions in the United States and around the world. From 1997 to 2001 Dr. Shapiro was the U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs.
